The Rock Valley College softball team came together on Sunday in a ceremony to celebrate the 2015 NJCAA national championship squad, the second straight year the program won the title.
Current and former players gathered at the school's PE Center in between the women's and men's basketball games (both RVC wins) to receive their rings and unfurl the newest banner that hangs next to the 2014 version for the softball program. It was a welcomed celebration after a difficult week at Rock Valley that saw the cuts to the tennis and golf programs during the Illinois budget crisis.
Players and coaches enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on their accomplishment, including former catcher Tatianna Reyes. "It's the first time I've ever had something I worked hard for and it finally paid off. It was a really good learning experience for me and the entire team and this place has become like home."
