Eastland girls volleyball finished the 2015 season with a staggering 40-1-1 record, ending it on the highest of notes with a 1A state championship.
The Lady Cougars defeated Cissna Park at Redbird Arena in Normal in straight sets, 25-16 25-16, to win the program's third state title in the last eight years.
"We talked about this forever, we talked about it the first day of practice. This was everything we ever wanted. I love these girls. I'm excited to see where they go next year," said Eastland senior Mackenzie Doubler.
"They never faltered at all this entire season. Our only loss was early in the season to a really good team. I'm super proud of them," said head coach Kristy Pierce.
"It hasn't hit me, I can't even describe that we're done now," said senior Cassidy Logemann, winner of WREX's first Athlete of the Week award this school year. "But I know we'll keep the bond that we have forever."
