2 separate robberies; 2 separate shots fired in Rockford

On Saturday, October 17, at around 9:15 p.m., Rockford police officers responded to a hold-up alarm at the Mobil Gas Station, 4432 Auburn Street. 

While the officers were driving to the business, they learned the business had been robbed. The clerk was inside of the gas station waiting on a customer when the suspect ran inside the front doors.

The door to the cashier area was opened at the time and the suspect ran inside and held the cashier at gunpoint. The suspect then took money from the Mobil and ran on foot south down Day Avenue. 

No one was injured during this robbery.

The suspect is a man between 18-20 years old, 5'7" tall, black shirt, jeans, light color netting covering face and camo baseball hat. He was armed with a handgun. 

In a separate location, on Sunday, October 18, at 2:00 a.m., two women were walking to their car from a downtown business when a person came up to them. 

One of the women was holding both of their purses. The suspect grabbed the purses and pulled them causing the woman to fall and release the purses. The suspect then fled north towards Beattie Park with both purses.

No one was injured during this robbery. 

The suspect is a black man between the ages of 20-30 years old. He is between 5'7" and 5'8". He was wearing a dark gray hooded sweat shirt and jeans.

In a separate location, Saturday, October 17, at around 9:50 p.m. a house was struck by gunfire.

On the 2800 block of Canterbury Lane residents in a house heard shots being fired and called the police. 

2 people were in the house at the time the shots were heard. When Rockford police arrived they realized the house was struck by the gunfire. 

No one was hurt and the reason for the shooting is unknown. There is no suspect information at this time.

At a different location, Sunday, October 18, at around 2:25 a.m., Rockford police responded to shots fired at the intersection of West State Street and Day Avenue. 

When the officers arrived they were able to locate multiple shell casings on West State and on the 100 block of Day Avenue. Upwards to 20 shell casings were found at this location.

Later that morning a vehicle was located on the 500 block of Willard Avenue with several gunshots in it. It is believed to be connected to the Day Avenue and West State shots fired. 

No one has been reported hurt and their is no suspect information at this time.
