The Rockford Hockey Club, playing at the Icehouse across the river from the home of the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, has enjoyed a boom in participation, interest, and on-ice results.
It certainly helps to have three Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup championships down the interstate and a recent IceHogs playoff appearance, but the RHC sports multiple teams at multiple levels developing winning players, including a Pee-Wee team that is currently ranked #1 nationally.
"The community has supported us and it's the reason we have the facilities. Our partnership with the Rockford Park District allows us to play our games here," says Rockford Hockey Club president Ron Hart. "The off-ice center here is part of their development. It makes them better. Most of the rinks don't have this so it's a great opportunity for hockey and youth hockey in this area."
