Rockford police arrest young man after battery

Rockford police say one person is beaten and two people are robbed in separate incidents along E. State Street.

Friday, October 9, around 6:20 p.m. Rockford police responded to a Circle K for a battery victim. 

Officers found a 62-year-old man who was lying in the parking lot at the Circle K gas station, 1032 E. State Street. The man was unconscious and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police say two people had approached the man and one of them beat him up.

Witnesses in the area provided a description of the people involved. Officers found two people a short distance away who matched the description given by the witnesses. 

Detectives conducted interviews with the two people. The case was reviewed with the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office. The Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office authorized the arrest of Tramone M. Lewis. 

Tramone M. Lewis has been charged with attempted robbery and aggravated battery with great bodily harm.  The incident is still under investigation.

Early Saturday morning, at about 4:45 a.m., two employees were robbed leaving their job in the 800 block of E. State Street.

Police say two people approached the employees and robbed them at gunpoint. Personal items like a purse and cell phone were taken.

No one was hurt during the robbery. 

Investigators say the first suspect is described as a Hispanic man, who appears to be 25 years old. He is about 6 feet tall and was wearing a black hoodie. He was armed with an unknown type of handgun.

The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, it's unknown how old he is or what he was wearing. He was last seen carrying a dark-colored backpack.
