The final tally is in and Rockford City Market has shattered its attendance records from previous years.
Market Manager Cathy McDermott told 13 News that at the end of Friday night, 101,860 visitors had come to downtown Rockford for the popular outdoor event this year.
"The first year we had 20,000," said McDermott. "It's pretty amazing. We had no idea that we'd hit that this year."
Rockford City Market opened for the first season on June 11, 2010 and about 40 vendors.
"Maybe this is the year more people were aware of it," said McDermott. "People really liked the new pavilion, and we've had great weather. So a combination of all that, and I think people just love coming down here and hanging out."
The market takes place every Friday during the summer along State Street in downtown. It ran May 22 through October 22.
Sue Oakes was the 100,000th visitor at market. She was given a gift bag of City Market items when she walked in the entrance just before 6 p.m.
"I think I've missed 2 weeks in the whole summer and one of them I was in Vegas," said Oakes.
