The Chicago Blackhawks announced two big roster moves on Friday - the team re-signed Marcus Kruger to a one-year contract shortly after completing a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes. The defending Stanley Cup champions sent former Rockford IceHogs captain Joakim Nordstrom and Kris Versteeg to the Hurricanes in exchange for defensemen Dennis Robertson and Jake Massie and a fifth-round pick in the 2017 draft.
Kruger cemented himself as a key fourth-line contributor in last year's postseason run to the Cup with a triple-overtime goal during the Western Conference Final against the Anaheim Ducks. Nordstrom recorded 16 points with Rockford last year before making the Blackhawks' playoff roster. Versteeg registered 34 points last year with Chicago, winning his second ring after he was a part of the 2010 title team.
