Services set for Stillman cheerleader killed in crash

A visitation and memorial service has been set for Emily Fleming, the 17-year-old Stillman Valley cheerleader who was killed in a tragic car accident Friday night.

According to Meridian School District Superintendent PJ Caposey, the visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3 p.m.-8 p.m. at Kishwaukee Church and the memorial service will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Stillman Valley High School.

Fleming was killed Friday night when the car she was in collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Big Mound Rod. and Highway 251. The driver of the other vehicle was also killed. According to family, 64-year-old Andy Conderman was the man who was killed. Two other Stillman Valley cheerleaders were also injured in the crash and Caposey says they are both progressing in their recovery and one of them has been able to leave the hospital and go home.

Meridian CUSD 223 has postponed all district athletic contests until memorial services are completed.  The Board of Education has cancelled its three scheduled meetings for this week and will re-schedule at a later time.

When school resumes Tuesday, Caposey says numerous counselors will be on hand to support faculty, staff and students.
