The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that weather permitting, construction work on US 20 near Cherry Valley will begin on Monday, August 17, 2015. Civil Coatings and Construction will be starting the $273,213 project to paint the bridges carrying US 20 over the Kishwaukee River just east of Mill Road.
The westbound US 20 bridge will be restricted to one lane. The contractor will be using the closed lane for their equipment to reach around underneath the structure to clean and paint the steel bridge beams. There will be some short term closures of the right lane on the eastbound US 20 bridge to allow for building of the support system under the structure.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
The Illinois Department of Transportation asks that drivers please slow down and use extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
