Genoa-Kingston missed the playoffs in 2014, losing their season finale when in need of a victory to challenge for an at-large bid. The Cogs are hoping to rewrite that script, but with a familiar face under the headset in 2015.
Bill McCarty coached the Cogs from 2005-2010, making the playoffs three out of six years. He is an Illinois Coaches Hall of Famer, and is back for a second tenure to help get the Genoa-Kingston program back on a winning track.
"I coached my other two sons when they played in 2007 and 2008, and 2009 and 2010. I have another son coming up who's a junior, the opportunity lent itself to that. He's a junior and it's a good junior and senior class, and I thought I give it one more round. You only get one chance when you're a senior, and the seniors have to play the best football of their career, so hopefully they step up to the plate and we need to see some leadership from them."
