Mud volleyball helps WREX get down and dirty for charity

Four familiar faces were spotted during the 33rd annual Mud Volleyball Tournament held at Riverside Park in Roscoe this Saturday, August 8.

WREX's own Christie Battista, Kristin Crowley, Rebecca Klopf, Morgan Kolkmeyer and at least five other behind the scene WREXers all played in the tournament that contributes to the Epilepsy Foundation.

More than 340 teams played in over four inches of wet mud starting at 8:30 a.m. and lasting throughout the day. This tournament brings thousands of people to Riverside Park.

The event had music and everyone was able to bring their own drinks and food. Roscoe Fire Department supplied water for participants who felt more comfortable rinsing off between matches.

Kristin Crowley was able to catch up with us between matches.

"Unfortunately we lost our first game, it was a battle until the end" Crowley proclaims, "our second game is coming up in about an hour so hopefully we will be able to be victorious at that point and represent WREX."

It was reported that WREX only lasted for two games in the double-elimination tournament but came out with good spirits and a lot of extra laundry for the work week to come.
