Rockford Police wait tables for Special Olympics

The Rockford Police Department waited tables today for a good cause.

For the 5th year police hosted Tip-A-Cop.  The public was invited for a free lunch at the Texas Roadhouse. Officers helped out the wait staff in hopes people would leave big tips to donate to the Special Olympics.  For some officers, the cause hits home.

"Special Olympics affects me personally," says Assistant Deputy Chief Mike Dalkey.  "My daughter has Down Syndrome and she's a special athlete.  Those kids don't always have the greatest opportunity.  What the Special Olympics does is provide all of those kids with all of those great opportunities to participate, to succeed, and to achieve."

All the proceeds will go towards the 2015 Torch Run Campaign.
