There were three people in the car that was shot at. Police say the car was struck 18 times and out of the three people in the car, the one woman was hit.  The victim was hit two times by gunfire.  She was taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Rockford Police also accounted for 27 bullet shells recovered on the scene.

Officers are working with Beloit police on this case, it may be related to a shooting outside of a nightclub in Beloit overnight.  Beloit police say they are in communication with Rockford P.D. and that a possible connection between the two incidents is still under investigation.
