With six weeks until the NIU Huskies open the 2015 college football season on September 5 against UNLV at Huskie Stadium, the team hosted its seventh annual Women's Football Clinic on the Northern Illinois turf.
Mothers of players and female fans circulated through a six-part seminar on the field, learning various techniques and drills from head coach Rod Carey and several of his Huskies in uniform. Participants also visited the NIU locker room and wore team jerseys, and got a taste of tradition, running on to the field with the team's signature trio of flags.
"This is amazing...so happy to meet all the women that are part of NIU. Alumni, staff, moms like myself. It's a great experience," said Jackie Scharping, mother of NIU offensive lineman Max Scharping.
