Dixon Police arrested a man they said broke into a gas station and stole thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes.
Around 2:30 a.m. officers were called to West Everett Street for a report of a possible burglary.
The caller told police the front door of the Marathon gas station was damaged.
Authorities said a person used their car to hit the front door to get it open and take several thousand dollars worth of cigarettes.
Investigators were able to get a description of the suspect and the car.
A short time later, a Lee County deputy pulled over a car matching the description of the one used in the business break-in.
The driver, Randy Sanders, of Rockford, drove off after being pulled over on Route 2, according to Dixon Police. Authorities used stop sticks in the road to eventually get him to stop. He was taken into custody without incident after that, officers said.
Sanders is now charged with burglary, criminal damage to property and fleeing police among other charges.
He was booked into the Lee County jail.
