Rockford Lutheran and Eastern Illinois alum Kevin Flack added another trophy to his mantel over the weekend, winning the 2015 Aldeen Cup. It came on the heels of his appearance in the State Amateur Tournament in Springfield, where he finished 10th, and he says it was a valuable experience for his game going forward.
"It was fun playing with guys on that Illinois golf team ranked number one in the nation, it gave me confidence that if I can play well, I can compete with anyone. If you shoot under par, you can play with anyone."
Kevin's mom and caddie Tari Flack has watched her son's game blossom even as he dominates the local golf scene. He spent time in Europe working on technique, and it's starting to pay dividends on the course.
"I think he feels like he's getting a little bit better and better. His work is paying off. It's kind of little increments, it's not dramatic, but he feels stronger and more confident and he's grinding through it."
Flack will play in the 2015 Men's City Golf Classic over the next two weekends, an event he won last year. He will play in the second group to tee off at Elliot on July 25, alongside Jamie Hogan and Mick Hockinson.
