Sunday, July 19, SwedishAmerican, a Division of UW Health, hosted the 2015 Pink Heals Tour on the east side of the hospital campus in front of Camelot Tower, 1415 East State Street.
The pink fire truck and firefighters dressed in pink made their grand entrance at 11:30 a.m. kicking off the event.
Since 2007, the Pink Heals Tour has been bringing its pink fire trucks to communities from coast to coast. Its goal is to race cancer awareness and to honor and support those who are battling cancer.
The event was free to the public and participants were able to sign the pink fire truck; take a free photo with the fire truck; explore a Rockford Fire Truck and the Survive Alive House; visit with the Rockford Police Department and the K-9 Unit had a demonstration.
All of this was possible because of the organizer from the Center for Women at SwedishAmerican and Pink Heals Winnebago County Chapter.
Sonya Fogal, Center for Women Supervisor at SwedishAmerican, says "The Center for Women wants to promote the importance of having your annual mammogram every year and we are partnering with the A Silverlining Foundation which actually provides free mammogram for women who can't afford it."
