As summer winds down, one group is making sure every kid has a new outfit on their first day of school.
For the 13th year the Winnebago County Salvation Army is putting on its Clothes for Kids drive. There will be a billboard at Cherryvale Mall with paper t-shirts containing the size information for the RPS 205 students in need. People can shop for and drop off those outfits right at the mall. The Salvation Army will then take those outfits to the school district which will pass them on to students.
"Nothing is more disappointing for a child than to go back to school and not have a new outfit to wear," says Winnebago County Salvation Army Program Manager Gloria Sjogren. "This is an opportunity for the community to chip in and help."
The event kicks off August 7th and runs through the 16th.
