Local museum gives scholarships to aviation students
POPLAR GROVE (WREX) -
A museum is hoping to inspire the next generation of pilots and engineers.
The Poplar Grove Vintage Wings and Wheels Museum held an awards presentation tonight to recognize the seven recipients of the museum's 2015 scholarship class. The awards went to teens who have aspirations of a career in aviation. Museum staff say they are happy to lend a hand to these students.
"It's harder and harder for young people to get their aviation ratings because it's more and more expensive," says museum general manager Judi Zangs. "So everything that we can do to help, we try to do."
Tonight's event also featured an art exhibit that was put on by 4th and 5th graders from Lincoln Elementary.
