18 year old Jacob McManus, who trains at Bravehearts Therapeutic Riding in Poplar Grove, has been selected to compete in the equestrian event at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games that will take place in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 2.
McManus was featured in a special news story produced and broadcast by WREX last July.
McManus has been involved in the Special Olympics for the past nine years and has won several medals in Special Olympics equestrian competition.
Other regional Illinois athletes competing in Los Angeles include Matthew Sherman and Cody Zimmer from Sycamore, who are competing in soccer.
The 15 Illinois athletes and 8 coaches will depart from Chicago on July 21.
