Ex-POW to speak at Vietnam veteran convention in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD (AP) -

A Vietnam veteran who was a prisoner of war for more than seven and a half years will be the highlighted speaker at the Vietnam Veterans of America's convention in Springfield later this month.
The organization says William A. Robinson will give the keynote address to close out opening ceremonies on July 22 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center. It will be the group's 17th national convention.
Robinson was shot down while serving as crew chief on a U.S. Air Force helicopter in 1965 in North Vietnam. He was captured and held until 1973.
The organization expects more than 800 delegates to attend from chapters across the country. The Associates of Vietnam Veterans of American also will be holding its national convention.
