Rockford Arts Council adding new public art project

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

There's new public art going up in Rockford and you can be a part of it.

The Rockford Area Arts Council is putting on the "Off the Chain Link" project.  They are hoping to collect 10,000 old CD's from the public with the goal of re-purposing them into sidewalk art along chain link fences.

Organizers say they are excited to for Rockford to embrace city art.

"Public art, we know, has a positive impact not only on the residents but also on the people who come to the city for dining," says Rockford Arts Council President and CEO Anne O'Keefe.  "So it's been great to see such a growth in interest and funding in public art."

You can drop off CD's at the information booth located next to the Pepsi tent at City Market tomorrow.
