July 4th Parade and Fireworks Return to Downtown

The 53rd annual 4th of July parade will be held Saturday evening in downtown Rockford.

The parade will commence at 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of 7th Street and 6th Avenue, beginning with the traditional "Motorcycle Parade".

The end of the parade route has been slightly adjusted due to construction, proceeding west onto Chestnut Street rather than down Wyman Street.

The July 4th committee will provide entertainment and refreshments at Davis Park from 5:00 p.m. until the fireworks show begins at 9:30 p.m.

As pedestrian traffic will be heavier than normal, several streets will be closed to ensure public safety, and visitors are advised that stopping in the roadway will not be allowed.

State, Chestnut, and Morgan Street bridges will close to vehicles by 5:00 p.m., and South Main will be closed between Kent and Cedar.

Bridges will be re-opened shortly after the fireworks show concludes, and pedestrian traffic is cleared.

Downtown visitors are encouraged to allow ample time for parking and walking to their viewing site.

There will be no parking allowed in the Concourse Deck located at 200 S. Church next to the BMO Harris Bank Center, and visitors are reminded not to park in private lots where signs are posted.

A map for parking provided by the River District can be found here.

Guests are asked to be patient at the conclusion of the fireworks, as their departure routes may be different than how they arrive.

Commuters must drive with caution and obey all police directives as they direct traffic.
