Fairdale residents help Coal City after tornadoes

MORRIS, Ill. (AP) - Those hard hit by a tornado earlier this year in Fairdale are reaching out to help residents of Coal City who suffered damage from a tornado earlier this week.

The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/1Nk2O2n ) that two men drove more than 90 miles Wednesday from Fairdale to Morris with boxes of supplies. An EF-3 tornado struck Coal City late Monday destroying homes and businesses and causing minor injuries. No one died.

An EF-4 tornado struck the town of Fairdale on April 9, killing two people. DeKalb County Long Term Recovery Corp. president Bill Nicklas says his group has the infrastructure needed 2 1/2 months after the Fairdale tornado. He says "we're in a better position now to judge what we can spare."

The men from Fairdale brought toiletries, paper towels, garbage bags, hand sanitizer and bleach.
