Red Cross opens shelter in Sublette to help those displaced by severe weather
LEE COUNTY (WREX) -
The American Red Cross has opened a shelter in Sublette to support people displaced by severe weather and tornadoes.
The shelter is located at the Ellice Dinges Center at 202 South West.
The Red Cross will also be providing food, coffee and water for emergency responders and displaced residents.
The agency says volunteers have been ready to help before the storm hit and are now actively on the ground providing help. It says relief efforts will evolve as disaster induced needs become apparent.
Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Northeast Illinois, Lisa LaSala, says they want to make sure people get into safe shelter and their immediate needs such as food, infant supplies and medications are met.
