BMX Nationals return to Rockford


The USA BMX Midwest Nationals are back in Rockford this weekend. The Park District will host more than a thousand riders from all over the country at Searls Park, including professional and Olympic bike riders to compete at the Forest City track.

"This race, the Rockford nationals, is one of the top races on the circuit. This is an amazing race. Always tons of riders from all parts of the country, all around the world, they all come to the Rock," says Mike Carruth, editor of

There is some local flavor to the festivities, as various Stateline riders from Rockford, Rochelle, and other neighboring communities. Jordan Grider is a Harlem product who's eager to ride this weekend on his home track.

"It's really cool. This is one of the bigger tracks, Top 10 track in the nation, it's pretty exciting. A lot of people don't know who we are, but we're known for this."
