Posted: Updated:

A man is shot on Rockford's east side around 1:30 Thursday morning.

Rockford police say it happened at David's Corner on 702 7th Street, but when they arrived, witnesses told them a black Pontiac and a white car were involved and had already left the scene.

They then went to 15th Street and 6th Avenue in response to more shots fired. They found shell casings in the street there, and other people nearby gave them the same car description.

Police then followed vehicle fluid to the 2200 block of 23rd Street and found a 32-year-old white man with a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was sent to the hospital and was treated and released with a non-life threatening injury.

Both vehicles were found in the area where the shots were fired.

The shooting is under investigation with Rockford police. Anyone with information is asked to call them at (815) 987-5824.
