ROCKFORD (WREX) -
The car seat you use to cart your kids around safely could become a danger to them in the hot summer temperatures. The metal parts, like the buckles to your car seat can burn the skin of your child.
According to Rockford Memorial Hospital there are things parents can look out for to prevent this injury.
"The buckles can get hot as well so sometimes some of those sun shade protectors can help with the buckle situation leaving the windows cracked getting the AC going prior, just making sure the car is a little bit cooled off," says Stacy Zell-Weavel, RMH childlife specialist.
RMH offers monthly car seat checks. The next one is this Saturday at the Rockford Health Physicians on Mulford Rd. from 9 till noon.
