Yearly 911 Run raises money for local fire and police chaplains
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Saturday June 6th, at precisely 9:11 a.m. runners and walkers took off from the starting line on the trails behind Fire Station #5, 391 N. Trainer Road in Rockford.
More than 200 participants came to raise money for local fire and police chaplains. All the money raised at this event will stay local and anyone who registered received a free t-shirt.
Sandy Stansell, Race Director for Rockford Fire Department's 911 3-K, states, "We have a great Chaplain's Division that assists victims of fires and domestic violence victims, so we thought this was a very good cause to do something of this nature for."
This was the 11th year in a row that the Rockford Fire Department held the 3-K. This year, two firefighters ran it in full gear, helmet, coat, boots and pants.
