'Take Shape Rockford' hopes to help citizens get healthier
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Rockford was named the tenth most obese city in the nation according to new research by Gallup, with an obesity rate of 33%.
A local group of concerned citizens are working to make a dent in that statistic led by local pastor, Dan Valentine, who lost over 80 pounds as part of a new program. They are calling it 'Take Shape Rockford,' which is being sponsored by Take Shape for Life and independent health coaches from around the state-line area.
Tasha Ives, Health Coach for Take Shape for Life, says, "One at a time or a few at a time we can start transforming Rockford into one of the healthiest cities in America instead of one of the most obese."
Ives continues to state, "We want to transform Rockford in a different way. We can change job element, we can change living arrangements but if we are not healthy that's not really going to matter."
