BELVIDERE (WREX) -
A group of preschool students in Belvidere is getting ready for a community service project to help other kids.
"We're going to have a lemonade stand and we're going to give the money to the kids that have cancer," says 4-year-old Ava Jones.
Students at First Step Learning in Belvidere are hosting a lemonade stand Friday.
It will benefit the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. It's an organization that seeks to eradicate childhood cancer.
Teachers at the child care center say the students are looking forward to their community service.
"And they're real, real excited about it, very eager to help decorate and serve, so we're very excited for them and this opportunity," says teacher Courtney Borrett.
The event is this Friday afternoon from 3:30 to 5:30 at First Step Learning on Logan Avenue in Belvidere.
