It was a busy night for Rockford Police as officers responded to two armed robbery calls as well as two aggravated battery with a firearm calls.
The first armed robbery took place near the corner of Hancock St. and Post Ave. The victim there told police that two men approached him, one showed a handgun and the demanded money from him. The man wasn't hurt in the incident.
The second armed robbery took place in the 1100 block of Grant Ave. There, police say, a Spee-Dee Taxi driver was robbed at gunpoint. Police say two suspects approached the cab driver as he was waiting for a fare. One suspect pointed a handgun at him and demanded money. The cab driver gave the suspects money, but he was unharmed in the incident.
Suspects in both cases have not been caught by authorities.
Just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the 600 block of Acorn St. for a shots fired call. When officers arrived they found one man who had been shot in his shoulder. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say the man was riding a bicycle when he was shot. Witnesses on scene say he was shot by someone inside a car who was driving down Acorn St.
Less than half an hour after that incident officers got a call to the 3300 block of 11th St. There, police say, two men in a car approached a man walking in the area. The passenger of the vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun at the man causing him to run away. Police say the suspects immediately left the area.
Suspects in both of these cases have not been caught by authorities either.
