UPDATE: Young man shot and killed in Rockford, police say


UPDATE: Rockford Police say a 23-year-old man has died after a triple shooting on the city's west side.  

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday, officers were called to the scene near School Street and Royal Avenue on the city's west side for a report of a shooting.  According to investigators, two young men and a teenage boy had been shot at the scene there.  One of the victims, a 23-year-old whose identity hasn't been released, was taken to Rockford Memorial Hospital where he died, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.  Detectives are calling this a murder investigation.  Police say the other two victims, a 19-year-old man and 15-year-old boy, were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE: Rockford Police say three people were shot and one victim has life-threatening injuries.

The shooting happened on the 2000 block of School St. The three victims included two adults and one juvenile. All three are at an area hospital. One of the adults has life-threatening injuries. Police say the other two victims do not have life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for suspects in a white or silver Monte Carlo with dark racing stripes.


The Rockford Police Department is on scene of a shooting involving multiple victims.

A dispatcher tells 13 News at least three shooting victims are being helped by paramedics.

Police were called to a home in the 2000 block of School Street.

The dispatcher said the home is on the corner of Royal Avenue.
