The Rockford IceHogs will return to the BMO Harris Bank Center next week in a 2-0 Western Conference Semifinals deficit, losing 5-1 in Grand Rapids in Game 2 of their series with the Griffins.

Brandon Mashinter opened the scoring in the first period, tallying a 1-0 Hogs lead at the 6:18 mark. The Griffins erupted thereafter, scoring five unanswered goals, including a three-goal third period. Frustrations mounted for Rockford, as they amounted 64 penalty minutes, all but two of them accumulated in that final period.

Teemu Pulkkinen registered two goals for the Griffins, giving him a total of five in the series after his Game 1 hat trick.

Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday night in downtown Rockford with a 7 PM puck drop.
