OGLE COUNTY (WREX) -
A contractor working on railroad tracks in Ogle County is killed in a work accident.
The sheriff says 20-year-old James Campbell of Kentucky was on Canadian Pacific tracks off North Baileyville Road Thursday morning when it happened.
His company, RJ Corman, brought in a large boom with a magnetic arm.
While it was picking up metal railroad spikes, the sheriff says the boom spun out of control and hit the top of Campbell's ATV. The impact threw him from the vehicle. He hit his head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
