Senator Dave Syverson joined Governor Bruce Rauner in Fairdale today to update residents on the push to get federal disaster funding.
"We're not sure if the feds are going to approve this as a disaster are because of some of the guidelines," said Syverson. "IEMA, who has been here since the very beginning, they have a budget that will help cover the overtime costs for law enforcement that has been here."
Syverson said it remains to be seen if IEMA or the state will fund debris removal efforts in the effected counties. The senator said the cost to do so is estimated at half a million dollars. However, volunteers pitching in and helping has brought that figure down.
