CHERRY VALLEY (WREX) -
The final total from the Project: Tornado Relief has been announced by the Salvation Army.
WREX along with our media partners at Midwest Family and the Rockford Register Star collected a grand total of $45,750.40 for victims of the tornadoes that touched down April 9.
The collection effort began at 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 15. Donations came in steadily the entire day, and after the fundraiser ended at 7 p.m., red kettles were set up at the CherryVale Mall. One-hundred percent of the money donated will go to storm victims to help them recover and rebuild their lives.
13 WREX wants to thank everyone who came out behind Cherryvale Mall to donate for the cause. Mid-west Family Broadcasting and the Rockford Register Star were also big supporters in this event and helped bring in donations throughout the day.
If you would still like to donate to the cause, you can mail donations to:
Salvation Army PO Box 4159 Rockford, IL 61110
Make checks payable to "Salvation Army" and include "Tornado Relief" in the memo.
Thank you for making the fundraiser a big success!
