13 WREX, Rockford media partners to collect funds for tornado relief

ROCKFORD (WREX) - Rockford media partners 13 WREX, Midwest Family Broadcasting and the Rockford Register Star are holding a fundraiser today to collect monetary donations with the Salvation Army in an effort to help those impacted by last week's destructive tornadoes.

Stop by and join us in this effort throughout the day. The Project: Tornado Relief fundraiser is going on now in front of the soon-to-open Salvation Army retail store located on Mid Mall Drive near the CherryVale Mall. The donation drive will last until 7 p.m.

All money raised will be kept locally by the Salvation Army to go toward victims impacted by the tornadoes that hit Fairdale, Rochelle and Boone County. No donation is too small, and every bit goes to help those impacted by last week's severe weather.

WREX personalities including 13 Weather Authority Meteorologists Morgan Kolkmeyer and Alex Kirchner as well as 13 News Anchor Kristin Crowley will be there throughout the day collecting monetary donations. 13 News at 5 and 6 will be broadcast live from the drive. The WXRX morning show of Stone & TT will be broadcasting live from 5-9:30 a.m., 95.3 The Bull will be broadcasting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and B103's Gail Lewis will be broadcasting live starting at 2 p.m.

Again, only monetary donations will be accepted. If you are writing a check, please make that check payable to Salvation Army. Please also add Tornado Relief to the memo line.
