Club volleyball gives back to raise funds for Nicaragua trip

The club Fusion volleyball program features some of the top volleyball talent in our area. It produces several Division 1 players every year, and the club is looking to take a team to a tournament in Nicaragua later this year. Players are raising money with a volleyball camp for kids at Keith Country Day on Friday. It was a chance for them to help themselves get money for the trip, as well as give back to the community.

"We are going on a trip in Nicaragua to play volleyball as well as going to some clinics, women's shelters and children's shelters to give back to their society," says Keith senior and Loyola Chicago signee Alex Nunez.

"Helping the community around each person's area helps us to get into the community and to raise money. So being able to get with these little kids is a great thing for all of us and  it's fun to watch and fun to be a part of," says Boylan senior and Illinois State commit Lexi Varga.

"It's awesome to see them develop and start off at such a young age. Knowing I was there in that spot and not being that great as a player, they love the game and that's awesome to watch," says Iman McGary, a Keith senior and heading to UConn next year.
