The Discovery Center Museum announced today it experienced a new record for public attendance.
The museum welcomed 110,458 visitors through its doors in 2014, a 4.4 percent increase over last year, and the highest public attendance number in its history. This figure does not include school groups visiting on field trips.
The Discovery on Wheels outreach program also experienced an increase in the number of children and families reached. In 2014, the museum brought it hands-on classes, assembly programs, Family Fun programs and portable planetarium to almost 21,000 students a, a 20 percent increase from 2013.
"We are very proud of our museum," said Mike Rathbun, associate director of Discovery Center Museum. "Our staff works hard to provide quality exhibits and programs to children and families, whether they visit our museum or enjoy one of our outreach programs."
