It's never easy to say goodbye to your Christmas tree after the holidays, but when you're ready here's the best way to you can dispose of your tree correctly.
The City of Rockford will provide curbside collection of Christmas trees. You can just leave your tree at the same location where regular garbage is placed for collection on your regularly scheduled pick-up day. Trees will be collected from Monday, January 5th through Thursday, January 15th.
Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful will also be collecting Christmas trees at various regions throughout Northern Illinois. You can find those locations by clicking here.
In Freeport, the city will not provide curbside pickup of Christmas trees. The city is offering eight locations where you can drop your tree off.
Knowlton Park - Corner of Locust & Pleasant
Wilbur Park - Corner of Brewster & Elm
Taylor Park - Corner of East Stephenson St.
Bidwell Park - 1100 block of W. Pleasant
Read Park - Parking lot north of office
Adams & Float & Winneshiek (triangle)
Corner of Laurel & Willow - Lincoln Douglas School
Corner of Empire & Blackhawk - First Baptist Church
Trees will be available for disposal in Freeport from January 5th through Friday, January 23rd.
In Belvidere, the city is now accepting tree drop-offs at the Streets Department located at 515 W. Locust until January 16th.
