UPDATE: Police release sketch of suspect who shot former WREX meteorologist

UPDATE: Police in Texas release a sketch of a suspect accused of shooting a former WREX meteorologist. 

The man in the sketch is accused of shooting KCEN Meteorologist Patrick Crawford multiple times outside the Waco, Texas TV station Wednesday morning. 

KCEN tells us Crawford was shot in the abdomen. Crawford was rushed in to surgery and is now listed in stable condition. Police are still looking for the shooter. 

Crawford worked at WREX from 2004 to 2005. 



UPDATE: According to a story on KCENTV.com, police are still searching for the shooter who shot former WREX meteorologist Patrick Crawford.  Crawford remains stable at a Texas hospital but authorities told KCEN that they have little to go on as they search for the gunman.

According to the report, Crawford was shot in the stomach, the shoulder and another bullet grazed his head.

UPDATE: Workers at KCEN tell 13 WREX Crawford was shot in the abdomen. Other bullets grazed his head and shoulder. An NIU meteorologist and one of Crawford's mentors says the news of his shooting has shaken up those who knew him on campus.

"We've been watching his progress as he worked at WREX and then of course at his current employer at KCEN. We're very proud of him and to hear the news this morning was absolutely shocking and devastating to many. You just get that sick feeling in your stomach. To know that someone who has worked so hard to get where he is and is so well admired by his colleagues and by his fellow former students was just terrible," said Gilbert Sebenste, NIU Staff Meteorologist



UPDATE: According to an update on the KCEN Facebook page, the station has received word from authorities that Meteorologist Patrick Crawford is stable at a local hospital. They also say that police are continuing their search for the gunman. It was reported earlier that police did have a person of interest in custody. We will continue to update this story as it becomes available.



UPDATE: According to KCEN, law enforcement officials have taken a man into custody. The report says authorities are calling him a person of interest in the shooting of former WREX meteorologist Patrick Crawford. The report states that police are not saying whether or not he is the shooter.



According to multiple TV reports out of Waco, Texas, former WREX meteorologist Patrick Crawford was shot multiple times outside of KCEN studios earlier this morning. According to a story on KCENTV.com, Crawford was shot after exchanging words with the suspect. According to the report, Crawford was able to flag down a construction worker, who was able to call for help. The report says Crawford was taken to a hospital in Temple, TX where he was undergoing surgery. Another report on the station's website says he is expected to survive. The report goes on to say that police are still searching for the suspect. Crawford worked for WREX as a meteorologist from 2004-2005 and has since worked at stations in Yuma, AZ, Fort Smith, AK, New Orleans, LA up to his current role as morning meteorologist at KCEN in Waco.
