Weather is blamed for yet another delay in the opening of Alpine Hills winter park on Rockford's east side.
The majority of the park's slopes remain bare as temps have remained too mild for snow to accumulate.
According to the Rockford Park District, In order to open, the facility wants a base of at least four feet of snow.
Temps need to dip below 20 degrees for seven straight days to complete that snow base.
According to Chief Meteorologist, Alex Kirchner, current forecasts don't show that type of weather pattern for up to two weeks.
The grand opening party has been delayed until January.
