Children who find themselves in a hospital during this time of year — or any time of year — can feel a bit fearful.
However, ambassadors with the Rockford Health System are trying to take care of that with their Ambassadors Holiday Toy Drive.
The goal is to raise $20,000 to purchase toys for children and their siblings in the hospital.
"We also buy, and I think this is one of the key things, we buy a lot of teddy bears for the ambulances. So when they're picked up, sometimes it's just that teddy bear they're able to hug and it just comforts them," says Jody Schumacher, co-chair of the toy drive.
The toy drive continues through Saturday. For more information, click here.
The toys will be distributed year-round.
