Blue Angels come to Rockford

Mark your calendars — the Blue Angels will return to Airfest at Chicago Rockford International Airport over the summer.

In preparation of next year's event, several pilots from the Navy's flight demonstration squad were here to promote their appearance.

For many of the pilot's, it's been a long time coming.

"I haven't been to Rockford before. I'm excited to come next summer. Traveling across the country's going to be very cool for me and getting to meet some of the people I've never met before and talk tot hem about what the Blue Angels are all about, what the U.S. Navy's all about, and learning about them as well," said Captain Jeff Kuss, a Blue Angels pilot.

Next year's Airfest is June 6 and 7.

The last time the Blue Angels participated in the event was 2007. They were scheduled to perform last year, but it was canceled due to the government sequestration.
