Students hope generosity for teacher's son with cancer takes flight
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
We fly with Adam. That's what students of Alpine Academy say in support of an aviation student recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Adam Carlson, whose mother Liz teaches 2nd grade at Rockford's Alpine Academy, studies aviation at Southern Illinois University.
The school is selling t-shirts to show love and support for the Carlson family.
Tuesday the school presented a check to the Carlson family.
"We're really trying to teach them to think about, not just themselves, but others and the community as a whole," said Liz Carlson. "To see what they've done for us, has just been so overwhelming and it gives you such hope and inspiration."
All proceeds from the shirt sales to toward helping the family with medical expenses.
