Non-profit looking for mentors to help RPS students become 'All Stars'
ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Fundraisers are a great way to bring in money. Friend-raisers bring the right people to your organization.
Tuesday night at Pearl Bistro, KFACT held its first annual Friend-raiser recruitment get-together.
KFACT stands for Keeping Families and Communities Together.
It's a non-profit mentoring program for girls in Rockford Public Schools.
"We want girls to get involved in our program because of the importance of mentoring," said Shamika Williams. "Having that intimate connection to someone to help with post secondary education is critical right now, especially for girls in our community that are looking for that next step in life."
The cost of admission to the event was one personal hygiene item to create a care package for the girls.
