One Beloit area agency is looking to get young students interested in some of the highest paying jobs in the nation.
The SAE Rockford Beloit Section wants to increase student participation in the following subjects: science, technology, engineering and math, also known as STEM.
The agency teams up with the Rockford Public School District and plans to launch a pilot program called "A World in Motion." The program will focus on filling that current skills gap that students lack in the STEM subjects.
"It's just what we need here in Rockford. If you want to get your test scores up and our students engaged in learning, this is the program to do it" says Paul Hastings, UTC Aerospace Systems Senior Engineer and SAE member.
Once the pilot program is complete, RPS 205 will consider implementing the program district-wide and make it part of the core curriculum.
