ROCKFORD (WREX) -
A movement to put the Rockford region back on the map for good celebrates one year.
After making a case for change and developing a vision for the future, the team is defining the strategy for transformation.
Organizers say they are well on their way, but have work to do.
"The word, transform, was chosen to set the bar high and we don't want to just make the place better or stop bad situations, we want to make it the community that it can be," Transform Rockford Executive Director, Mike Schablaske said.
The movement says in-put and involvement is crucial as it moves forward.
Organizers are currently in the strategy-phase after taking input from over 50 visioning sessions.
They say embracing the diversity, fostering a crime-free community, and delivering an excellent education to children is in our reach, but it will take time.
"The work is not easy, otherwise the work would be done," Transform Rockford Volunteer, Scott Anderson said.
This Saturday, you can join the conversation again for the launch of the strategy phase of the movement. It will be held at the Discovery Center at 1:30. The leaders will discuss what the strategy is and what the next step is.
