Local small business owners wouldn't mind if you waited until the Saturday after Thanksgiving to do your holiday shopping.
Independent businesses are joining in the national effort known as Small Business Saturday.
The program is in its fifth year.
Business owners say buying at locally owned shops keeps more money in the community.
"The more that we can keep local businesses going, the more people understand that it's really not just a saying. It really is what keeps our local communities alive, the better off we're going to be," says Krystine Vermeer, owner of Infinitely Sweet.
Most of the small businesses will have their own special promotions on that day.
